2019-12-15 Weekly Happenings

Hi Everyone!

I hope that everyone is having a great week and I wish you all good luck on your finals!

With this being finals week and the last week before we depart for break there will be a bit of a deviation from the norm. We will only be at the range on Tuesday this week from 6-10pm.

Due to all of our range officers having finals on Monday; We will not be at the range on Monday. Please don't show up. No one will be there.
On a completely related note, if you have any interest in being a range officer, opening the range and whatnot so that people can shoot, please email Mike. mbtiedt@mtu.edu

Items this week:

  • Due to resource issues, Finals Stress Relief Night on Monday, December 16th is CANCELLED
  • Rifle Cleaning Day will be on Tuesday, December 17th starting at 630pm.
    • As an incentive / bribe for showing up and helping, there will be Pizza and Pop in the stairway area outside of the range at 6.
    • Let me know what toppings & pop you guys like / dislike, or I get to choose.
    • We will be cleaning and performing routine maintenance on our rifles.
    • The more people we have show up, the faster this goes and the easier it is.
    • Please try to come and help. No experience is necessary!!
  • If you are interested in joining and are unsure, come down to the range and try us out! Next semester is a great time to start!

Upcoming Items:

  • The trip for the WIRC finals will be on February 21st - 24th in North Dakota.
  • The team will not be shooting at the SDC during winter break
  • When we return from break we will start shooting our Midstate Rifle League targets.
    • An email with the details on this postal match will be sent out over break.
  • We have the opportunity to travel to shoot in Collegiate Sectionals sometime at the end of January / beginning of February.
    • An email with the details on this trip will be sent out over break.
    • This is the qualifying competition to get an invite to the Collegiate Club Championships in Fort Benning, Ga.
  • January WIRC targets are due on January 29th.

End of Semester things:

  • If you have an outstanding account balance with us, please get it paid.
  • If you have any ammunition left over at the end of this semester you have a few options avalble depending on what your situation and what it is:
    • You can store any .22LR and Air Pellets in our cabinet over the break for next semester.
    • You can donate any .22LR and Air Pellets to the team for team use.
    • You can take your Air Pellets home with you. Please note, if you live on campus you will need to store them off campus or at Public Safety until you leave campus.
    • You can sell back any .22LR to the team at a rate of $2 / 50 rounds.
    • Due to restrictions placed on the .22LR because we get it at a deep discount, there are a few special things that can go on with it.
      • If you are graduating you *CAN* take any remaining .22LR with you, as long as the quantity is less than 500 rounds and you do not have an outstanding account balance.
        • You may not purchase another brick just to take it with you.
        • Please note, if you live on campus you will need to store them off campus or at Public Safety until you leave campus.
      • If you are not graduating you *CANNOT* take any .22LR with you.
    • By default (i.e. If you don't do anything) - Any ammunition is just stored for one year. If it's not claimed within the following academic year, it is automatically donated to the club.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the content of this message please let me know. Thank you for your attention, and have a great week!

GO HUSKIES!
