2020-02-23 Weekly Happenings
Hi Everyone!
We will be at the range on Monday & Tuesday this week starting at 6pm.
Congratulations to everyone who went on the WIRC trip!
While we didn't bring home any large trophies, we did bring home "Most Improved - Air Rifle Team". And possibly another award pending review and challenge of the WIRC bylaws.
This is our first year back after the range closure and I think it truly reflects all of the hard work and training that everyone's put in this season. The actual amount of improvement is also extremely significant - About a 10% improvement in team score at the championships over the average of the scores for December & January. The next closest team had a 3% improvement.
Items this week:
- This week we will be:
- Revisiting AirRifle: working on butplate positioning and just general practice.
- Shooting MSRL Targets 3&4.
- They were due this week
- Shooting MSRL Targets 5&6.
- They are due next week
- Any non-student members wanting to shoot match targets or have sufficient range time to get a decent practice in can now do that on Tuesdays from 6-10pm.
- If you are interested in joining and are unsure, come down to the range and try us out! It's never too late to start!
Upcoming Items:
- Midstate targets 5&6 are due on March 13th
- This is the week of Spring Break, so I will need your targets shot by the end of next week.
- We will be attending the Laker Prone Invitational and holding a postseason competition against GVSU on the weekend of April 4th.
- We will be traveling to GVSU to shoot on their range.
- We will be leaving on Friday and returning on Sunday for this trip.
- More details will be sent out in a few days.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the content of this message please let me know. Thank you for your attention, and have a great week!
GO HUSKIES!

Update 2020-02-24 13:41
We just recieved some updates to the WIRC awards we won
- The second award we won is: "Most Improved - Smallbore Team".
- There was a mathematical issue calculating the improvement % due to the winning team not submitting scores for one of the months.
- This is where we had the 10%-ish improvement, and the next closest team was at 3%.
- The improvement % for Air Rifle was actually 5.7%. The next closest team was 0.66%.
- I was looking at the wrong column when composing the first email.
- The scores used for Improvement are October, November, and December.
- Not December & January as previously mentioned at the Banquet and in my last email.
