Rifle Team Weekly Happenings 2022-12-11

Hi Everyone!

I hope that everyone is doing well.  I wish everyone the best of luck on your exams this week.  And if you were unaware...   This week is finals week.  You can find your finals week schedule here.

Since it's the end of the semester, we will be cleaning all of our rifles this week.  Cleaning and maintenance takes about 45-75 minutes per rifle, and we have about 23 person hours of work that needs to get done, so if you are able to assist, it would be really appreciated.

• Even if you have no idea how to clean a team rifle, please show up if you're able.  Instruction will be provided.
• This can be a rather dirty task, so I'd recommend wearing clothes that you wouldn't mind getting greasy, oily, and just generally dirty.

Range Time This Week (Hopefully):

• Monday 6pm - 10pm
• Tuesday 6pm - 10pm

Prior to range renovation we've never had issues getting into the range during Final's Week.   After the range reopened 2019 we've been told that we have range access during finals week for rifle cleaning and shooting, only to find ourselves locked out and unable to get into the range.  So hopefully this is the year we're actually able to get in.

Upcoming Items:

• Next semester we will start 4 shooting 4-position competition
• We have some travel opportunities coming up.
  
  Most of these are events we could host and have others come up to shoot (And there's a lot of interest from UofM and GVSU to come up here).  Because our range has been converted into something better suited for throwing lead downrange and not competitive shooting, and the fact that the SDC range management isn't open to hearing ways to accommodate us hosting competitions....   we're stuck traveling.

  • Jan 28+29, Feb 4+5, or Feb 11+12 - Intercollegiate Sectionals.   Jackson, MI or Grand Rapids, MI
  • Feb 18+19 - Air RIfle & SB 3P Metric Junior Sectionals.  Grand Rapids, MI
  • Feb 25+26.   - WIRC Finals.   Jackson, MI or Fargo, ND
  • Mar 11+12 or Mar 18+19 - Air Rifle & SB 3P Metric State Championships.  Jackson, MI or Grand Rapids, MI
  • Late March / Early April - Intercollegiate Rifle Championships.  Fort Wayne, IN.
