Upcoming Competition - Intercollegiate Sectionals

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to let everyone know about another upcoming competition that we have the opportunity to compete in!  Sorry for the late notice on this.  I just received notice of these about 15 minutes ago.   The match programs can be found here:

On the weekend of January 28th, or February 4th we have the opportunity to travel to Wyoming, MI or Jackson, MI to compete in Intercollegiate Sectionals, hosted by the Grand Valley State University Rifle Team or the University of Michigan Rifle Team, respectively.  This competition is for Collegiate Club Rankings.

This trip will most likely be a university excused absence.   What that means is:

Student Organization members may request letters to verify their participation in co-curricular activities in the event that they need to miss class to do so.  This letter is meant to confirm a student’s participation in an extracurricular activity, however it is not an excuse and it is the responsibility of the student to inform the instructor(s) and gain permission to make up any assignments, course work, and quizzes missed during this time. Verified Absence Policy )

The course of fire is 60 shots air rifle, and 60 shots 3-position smallbore.  The 3-position format will be the NRA style (Prone - Standing - Kneeling).

Because this is a collegiate competition, there is a criteria that needs to be met in order to go:

For purposes of NRA Intercollegiate Sectionals/Nationals ONLY: a collegian may compete for a maximum of four years during their undergraduate career. Collegians must be full-time during the semester in which they compete. If a collegian goes to graduate school directly after graduation from undergraduate school, and has one or more years of eligibility left, the graduate student may compete (and complete their four years of eligibility) in their first year of graduate school.

The cost to attend will be somewhere in the $0-40 range and will be all inclusive except for food, entertainment and ammunition.  (Actual cost will depend on how many people we have going and the location)  We have a subsidy and enough equipment for up to 10 competitors.

If we travel to GVSU, these targets can also count as your January WIRC targets.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY January 20th-ish!  (And also let me know if the GVSU on Jan 28th or UofM on Feb 4th works better)

Thanks,
Zach
