2015-10-18 Weekly Happenings
Hi Everyone!
I hope that all of you are having a most excellent day!!
- This week we will be practicing the NCAA course of fire in order to prepare everyone for the WIRC targets we will be shooing next week.
- We will be shooting our WIRC targets the last week in October (Oct 26, 27, 31). This is our collegiate conference. I hope that almost all of you choose to participate in these.
- The Western Intercollegiate Rifle Conference (WIRC) is the collegiate rifle conference that we are affiliated with. (It's comparable to things like the GLIAC or the WCHA for other Michigan Tech athletics). But the WIRC is made up of both NCAA teams and club teams (Like ourselves). Because of this, we must follow the NCAA rule-book and eligibility rules.
- The conference has four sets of postal targets (We shoot them at our range and mail them in), that are shot at the end of October, November, December, and January. Then in February we travel to a host school and compete in a shoulder to shoulder competition.
- I know that not everyone knows all of the positions yet, but we can work through it! The great thing about the WIRC is that no only do you get awards for being constantly on top of the rankings, but you also get awards based on how much you have improved throughout the year. So I really hope that everyone that's eligible to participate does so!
- Due to the short range hours, and the amount of time it takes to complete the course of fire, it will probably take you two visits to the range to complete the competition.
- We have an upcoming travel opportunity. I received the details I need from UofM this morning, so I will be sending out an email outlining the details of the trip this evening.
Thanks for your time and have a great week!
- Zach
