2016-04-16 & Beyond Weekly Happenings

Hi Everyone!

I hope that all of you had a blast at spring fling and are enjoying the weather.  It's difficult to believe that just a few days ago it was snowing.   But that's Houghton for ya.

Below is the list of happening going on between today and the end of the semester.

  • 4/16 - Range open from 2-6pm ish
    • Seems like a great day to shoot your MSRL Targets.
  • 4/18 - Range open from 6-10pm ish
    • Seems like another great day to shoot your MSRL Targets.
  • 4/19 - Range open from 6-10pm ish
    • MSRL Postal Targets for Match 9&10 as well as any makeup targets due by 10pm.

  • 4/23 - Rifle Team End of Year Banquet and finial meeting at 1pm.    (More information might be sent out later)
    • Please RSVP by emailing Jessica    (jaboelck@mtu.edu).
    • This is our yearly picnic/dinner/lunch thing for the team members.
      • The format will be more of a potluck.
    • If the weather is nice the location will be Hancock beach.
      • If the weather isn't nice we're going to gather at Coach's house in Dollar Bay.
    • This is also the last membership meeting of the year.

  • 4/25 - Finals Stress Relief Night   (More information will be sent out on this later)
    • It will be from 6-10PM
    • Free for members (Just provide your own ammunition)
    • $7 for non-members.   Includes 50 rounds of ammunition and other things.

  • 4/26 - Rifle Cleaning  (More information will be sent out on this later)
    • Please come out and help us clean our rifles, and get them ready to be put away for the Summer.
      • FACT:  If we don't get this done, rust and other damage will probably occur.
    • Because we also do other maintenance beyond just cleaning them it takes a bit longer per rifle.
      • FACT:  The more people show up, the faster it goes.
      • FACT:  No experience is required, just show up and we will show you what to do.
    • FACT:  If you guys don't help with this, I need to spend *MY* summer getting this done.
      • FACT:  It is almost impossible for me to get into the range over the summer.
      • FACT:  You guys got them dirty, it's only fair that you guys help clean them.
      • FACT:  I'd much rather be kayaking, jeeping or something then spending my summer in the SDC cleaning your rifles.
    • So....    Yeah.  Please come out and help.

End of Year Things:

  • If you have an outstanding account balance with us, please get it paid.  We will be sending anyone with an outstanding account balance a message this weekend.

  • If you have any ammunition left over there are a few different things you can do with it depending on your situation and what it is:
    • You can store any .22LR and Air Pellets in our cabinet over the break for next year.
    • You can donate any .22LR and Air Pellets to the team for team use.
    • You can take your Air Pellets home with you.  Please note, if you live in the dorms you will need to store them in not the dorms until you leave campus.
    • You can sell back any .22LR to the team at a rate of $2 / 50 rounds.
    • Due to restrictions placed on the .22LR because we get it at a deep discount, there are a few special things that can go on with it.
      • If you are graduating you *CAN* take any remaining .22LR with you, as long as the quantity is less than 500 rounds and you do not have an outstanding account balance.
        • You may not purchase another brick just to take it with you.
      • If you are not graduating you *CANNOT* take any .22LR with you.
  • By default (i.e. If you don't do anything) - Any ammunition is just stored over the summer for one year.  If it's not claimed within the following academic year, it is automatically donated to the club.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or other please let me or a member of the E-Baord know.

Thanks,
Zach
