2017-10-23 Weekly Happenings
Hi Everyone!
I hope that all of you enjoyed the warm weather we had this weekend.
Items this week:
- These first few weeks will kinda be a rush to get everyone up to speed on competition. We had a late start to the season and we need to cram about 2 months of practice into 6 practices before the competitive season starts, and I guarantee you that you won't be performing as you expect to be. But don't let this intimidate you and use it as an excuse not to compete. Everyone needs to start somewhere, and I promise that as long as you show up to practice, throughout the season you will get better. While you might not get an award for best overall score for the season our league also has many awards for most improved.
- This week we will be covering beginning Competition for anyone that's gone through the all of the Air Rifle and Smallbore basics. The focus here is just getting people use to the time limits and the course of fire.
- For anyone that hasn't covered our basic introduction to AirRifle or Smallbore, we will be doing that this week as well.
- If you are interested in joining and are unsure, come down to the range and try us out! It's never too late to start!
- On Saturday (October 28th) we will be traveling to Iron Mountain, MI to shoot our first set of collegiate targets.
- Please let me know ASAP if you will be able to go!
Upcoming Items:
- Next week we will working on fine tuning our prone positions, as well as discussing things like: Glasses vs Contacts
- We will be holding Team Picture Day in Early November. Please look for more information to be sent on that soon-ish.
- We will likely be traveling UofM or Akron on the weekend of November 11th, to get our November WIRC targets shot. Look for more details on that to be sent out tomorrow.
- We have the opportunity to travel to UofM on the weekend of December 4th to shoot our December WIRC targets and participate in the Great Lakes Invitational - A 20x3 position rifle & 60 shot air competition.
- We have the opportunity to travel to GVSU on the weekend of January 27th to shoot our January WIRC targets and Collegiate Sectional Qualifiers.
- We have the opportunity to travel to either Purdue, MSU, or Akron on the weekend of February 17th or 24th for the WIRC Championships.
Thanks for your time and have a great week.
GO HUSKIES!
- Zach
