CRT@MTU General Membership Meeting Minutes

Meeting ran from 6:03pm to 6:59pm on Thurs, Sep 10, 2009.

• The new rifle has arrived
• We have received the two cases of ammo that we had ordered 
  
• Just started working on the first case
  
  • The new ammo we will be testing will be in shortly
  • We are testing a small amount of a new ammo to ensure ease of use and accuracy before we purchase any large amount of the new type
  • Zach objects to this choice of ammo saying it is unreputable
  • He suggests sticking with eley sport
  • Mike recommends CCI standard velocity + Zach notes U of M uses CCI as practice ammo + Mike says we can possibly go though Mike O’Connor’s (U of M coach) contact to purchase CCI at a good price
  • According to Zach U of M’s coach advises against the ammo we are going to test out
• Motion to amend constitution (to change the definition of a quorum) by Angela
  • Zach provides the updated one from last year which was never submitted to student activities
  • Motion to postpone indefinitely by Zach + Passes
• We will post pone the submission of the constitution upon review to verify it is the correct version and everything edited has been voted on in the meeting minutes
  • As long as everything checks out it will be submitted via the proper channels
• The WIRC finals will be at MSU this year
• Possibility of becoming CMP affiliated was discussed
  • No advantages for the club
  • They have no inventory
  • If individuals want to join that is a possibility
• John and Chris found a potential for a sponsor
  • They will look into it further and get back to us
  • Noted that if they wanted to shoot with us they would require a SDC membership as well as a CRT@MTU one
• Possible funding from ROTC
  • Possible stipulation: to help ROTC members in the sport if they wish
  • John will look into further
  • Zach warns about strings attached to money from them
• The general membership meeting will be the second Thurs of every month
  • Changes will be communicated via the mailing list
• Zach asks for the door to be closed and for Jon to speak up
• Mike thinks new people shouldn’t learn on an adjustable rifle
  • Idea being to teach them to shoot first, then introduce them to adjustments
• Zach makes a proposal to amend the constitution
  • The proposal is to add a coach position
  • Mike seconds the amendment
  • This amendment is quite lengthy and was provided in writing it is available upon request, send any requests to mtucrt@mtu.edu
  • General concerns with the proposal + Issues raised with the amount of power given to the coach + Also issues with the finances section raised
  • There were no additional motions to amend the amendment
  • It will be voted on at the next meeting as is
• Zach makes an additional proposal to amend the constitution
  • The proposal is to change the names from CRT@MTU to MTUCRT and from MTU to Michigan Tech through out the constitution
  • Mike seconds the amendment
  • This amendment was provided in writing and is available upon request by e-mailing mtucrt@mtu.edu
  • This amendment will be voted on at our next meeting
